Somehow these Valentino Rockstud Patent Leather Pumps managed to find their way into my collection hmmmm…what can I say? they are the best damn shoes everrrrrr.
I decided to purchase these for my graduation outfit way back when I completed my Communications degree. It was easy to convince myself to splurge since all you can see when you walk up to collect your certificate is well, um your SHOES.
These shoes are quite versatile, but choose your occasion – I wouldn’t exactly stroll into work on Monday morning donning these since they kind of scream hey look at me, I’m so extraaaaaa (you knowwww in a fashionista way).
That being said, opting for classic black with a nude trim and gold hardware makes it’s much easier to match with block coloured outfits. To strike a balance, these heels look best paired with a bold fitted silhouette, a high waisted pencil skirt, fitted dress or cropped pants are some viable options. I also tend to pair these shoes with darker hues such as navy, crimson or forest green to complement the Rockstud detail which I love because hey they are the perfect way to inject a little personality into your outfit.
One of the things I love about choosing patent leather over anything else is that it lasts a lifetime and is
water alcohol resistant. The last time I wore these to an engagement party someone dropped a drink on the dance floor and it splattered everywhere – the beads of beer just rolled off…because patent leather really is just MAGIC.
I was also pleased to discover that the nude strap doesn’t stain or fade and the rockstuds don’t tarnish. Provided that you clean these shoes with a damp cloth after you’re out an about, they’ll look as good as new – I’ve had this pair for over 5 years now!
Yes they are comfortable af, thanks for asking. I can even go for a light jog in these pumps if I had to because that’s how comfy they are. Unlike most designer shoes, the toebox is quite wide which means that your feet aren’t cramped in. Also, the strap makes it sturdy enough to walk, dance or strut around so at the moment I am dubbing these my favourite party pair. After all, there is nothing that kills me more than spending dollars on a pair of designer kicks that you only wear once – wouldn’t you agree?
So there you have it my favourite statement shoe, overall I would rate this splurge 8/10. It’s a piece worth investing in if you enjoy a little something that says I’m sassy but not too much.
