If you’re out and around Sydney, make sure you take a Shortstop for Coffee and Donuts. Located in Barangaroo, this little gem is one of my favourite places to go when I need a 3/4 flat white extra hot and something sweet.
Shortstop make speciality donuts that are the perfect treat for the afternoon. With a range of hand-crafted flavours, donuts are sprinkled with rose petals and lacquered with Earl Grey tea icing; filled with passionfruit custard and caramelised with sugar; wrapped in milk chocolate or drizzled with peanut butter and completed with a generous amount of nutty goodness. And if these delicious concoctions are too hectic for your palette, Shortstop does a great job with the classics too, mainly the Vanilla bean and Cinnamon varieties.
I love a steaming hot flat white usually before 9am, but on warmer days and especially the weekends, Shortstop Coffee and Donuts is definitely worth that trip for a cold brew. Refreshing, sweet and strong, the New Orleans Iced Coffee is a well balanced caffeinated beverage that will make your weekend a little more productive. Brewed in small batches and served in a small glass bottle, it’s a refreshing pick me up that will compliment your donut perfectly.
With plenty of natural light flooding the windows, the airy vibes give Shortstop Coffee and Donuts an exclusive but natural feel. Circular motifs are used throughout the fit-out paying homage to the humble donut. Take a seat outdoors at a small round timber table or collect some extra sugar at the curved counter holding an assortment of coffee condiments. Foolscap Sudios are the team responsible for the bakery’s thoughtful interiors.
